The Sokar-pattern Stormbird is a dedicated attack lander, the design precursor to the smaller, more widely-produced Thunderhawk Gunship. It was conceived as a specialised, high-durability orbital assault craft, a mobile bastion and firebase that can land a Space Marine strike force and withstand heavy ground fire while its passengers force a landing zone. To this end, the Sokar Stormbird features all-round gun turrets and dense composite armour comparable to a main battle tank, as well as void shield generators and redundant thruster units to keep it airborne even when damaged.
This multipart resin kit builds one Legion Sokar Stormbird, a colossal attack lander. The Stormbird is the largest Imperial aircraft produced in miniature form, measuring over half a metre from nose to tail. A number of components, including its turrets and transport doors, can be assembled gluelessly, allowing you to adjust their positioning or expose the Stormbird's extensively-detailed interior as you choose. These transport bays are large enough to carry over 50 Space Marines, up to five Dreadnoughts, or even a Rhino transport. The fuselage and wings feature details such as stabilisers, thrusters, landing legs, and a cockpit through which two Space Marine pilots are visible. This aircraft also sports three twin-linked heavy bolters, six wing-mounted hellstrike missiles, and a choice of four hull-mounted turret guns, each with their own Space Marine gunner – twin-linked lascannons, or twin-linked heavy bolters. This model has no Legion markings, allowing Warhammer hobbyists to paint it in whichever colours they choose.
This kit comprises 147 resin components. This miniature is supplied unpainted and requires assembly – we recommend using Citadel paints.
You will need a copy of the Warhammer: The Horus Heresy – Age of Darkness Rulebook and either the Liber Astartes: Loyalist Legiones Astartes Army Book or Liber Hereticus: Traitor Legiones Astartes Army Book to make full use of this model in games of Warhammer: The Horus Heresy.
